| CVE-2026-118765 | 1 Randombit | 1 Botan | 2026-10-29 | N/A |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. From 3.7.0 until 3.13.0, an application that calls AutoSeeded_RNG::clear() and then calls randomize with an empty output buffer while the generator is unseeded can cause AutoSeeded_RNG to mark itself seeded without consulting the configured entropy source. On builds without BOTAN_HAS_SYSTEM_RNG, the fallback uses only a clock value and process ID, so a later non-empty request can produce output from predictable state. This issue is fixed in version 3.13.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-118766 | 1 Randombit | 1 Botan | 2026-10-29 | 6.1 Medium |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. Prior to 3.13.0, Botan's online OCSP client allowed a single HTTP redirect while posting an OCSP request to the URI in a certificate's Authority Information Access extension. A malicious OCSP responder or an on-path attacker could redirect the client to make one blind request to an otherwise unreachable internal HTTP service. The primary impact is blind SSRF that might affect internal services with non-idempotent GET handlers, and response timing can provide a coarse internal-service oracle. This issue is fixed in version 3.13.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-118767 | 1 Randombit | 1 Botan | 2026-10-29 | 4.8 Medium |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. From 1.11.22 until 3.13.0, Botan's Python binding converted Python strings containing U+0000 to const char* values without consistently rejecting the embedded NUL, causing bcrypt and check_bcrypt to process only the prefix before the NUL. Applications could validate a longer password but hash a shorter effective value, allowing application password-policy bypass; scrypt and argon2 are unaffected. This issue is fixed in version 3.13.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-118768 | 1 Randombit | 1 Botan | 2026-10-29 | N/A |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. From 1.11.34 until 3.13.0, the botan ocsp_check command requested an OCSP response from a certificate's Authority Information Access URL without verifying the response signature or authorizing the signer. A malicious responder or on-path attacker could return a matching and timely GOOD response with an empty, invalid, or unauthorized signature, causing a revoked certificate to produce exit status 0 and OCSP check OK output. Only the command-line interface is affected. This issue is fixed in version 3.13.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-118769 | 1 Randombit | 1 Botan | 2026-10-29 | N/A |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. From 2.1.0 until 3.13.0, the Botan C API function botan_block_cipher_block_size converted a size_t block size to int without a bounds check. In an application that accepts external algorithm parameter strings and uses the FFI raw ECB mode, an attacker can select the variable-block-size Lion cipher so that the reported size is truncated, the caller allocates insufficient memory, and later block processing causes memory corruption. The C++ API and normally used C API modes such as CBC and CTR are unaffected. This issue is fixed in version 3.13.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-44378 | 2 Botan Project, Randombit | 2 Botan, Botan | 2026-06-02 | 7.5 High |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. Prior to 3.12.0, certain patterns of indefinite length encodings in BER data could cause quadratic behavior in the parser, resulting in a denial of service. Such BER encodings were accepted even in structures which are required to be encoded as DER, which prohibits indefinite length encodings. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.12.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-34582 | 2 Botan Project, Randombit | 2 Botan, Botan | 2026-04-17 | 9.1 Critical |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. Prior to version 3.11.1, the TLS 1.3 implementation allowed ApplicationData records to be processed prior to the Finished message being received. A server which is attempting to enforce client authentication via certificates can by bypassed by a client which entirely omits Certificate, CertificateVerify, and the Finished message and instead sends application data records. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.11.1. | ||||
| CVE-2026-34580 | 2 Botan Project, Randombit | 2 Botan, Botan | 2026-04-17 | 7.5 High |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. In 3.11.0, the function Certificate_Store::certificate_known had a misleading name; it would return true if any certificate in the store had a DN (and subject key identifier, if set) matching that of the argument. It did not check that the cert it found and the cert it was passed were actually the same certificate. In 3.11.0 an extension of path validation logic was made which assumed that certificate_known only returned true if the certificates were in fact identical. The impact is that if an end entity certificate is presented, and its DN (and subject key identifier, if set) match that of any trusted root, the end entity certificate is accepted immediately as if it itself were a trusted root. , This vulnerability is fixed in 3.11.1. | ||||
| CVE-2024-34702 | 1 Randombit | 1 Botan | 2026-04-15 | 5.3 Medium |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. X.509 certificates can identify elliptic curves using either an object identifier or using explicit encoding of the parameters. Prior to 3.5.0 and 2.19.5, checking name constraints in X.509 certificates is quadratic in the number of names and name constraints. An attacker who presented a certificate chain which contained a very large number of names in the SubjectAlternativeName, signed by a CA certificate which contained a large number of name constraints, could cause a denial of service. The problem has been addressed in Botan 3.5.0 and a partial backport has also been applied and is included in Botan 2.19.5. | ||||
| CVE-2024-34703 | 1 Randombit | 1 Botan | 2026-04-15 | 7.5 High |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. X.509 certificates can identify elliptic curves using either an object identifier or using explicit encoding of the parameters. Prior to versions 3.3.0 and 2.19.4, an attacker could present an ECDSA X.509 certificate using explicit encoding where the parameters are very large. The proof of concept used a 16Kbit prime for this purpose. When parsing, the parameter is checked to be prime, causing excessive computation. This was patched in 2.19.4 and 3.3.0 to allow the prime parameter of the elliptic curve to be at most 521 bits. No known workarounds are available. Note that support for explicit encoding of elliptic curve parameters is deprecated in Botan. | ||||
| CVE-2026-32884 | 2 Botan Project, Randombit | 2 Botan, Botan | 2026-04-14 | 5.9 Medium |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. Prior to version 3.11.0, during processing of an X.509 certificate path using name constraints which restrict the set of allowable DNS names, if no subject alternative name is defined in the end-entity certificate Botan would check that the CN was allowed by the DNS name constraints, even though this check is technically not required by RFC 5280. However this check failed to account for the possibility of a mixed-case CN. Thus a certificate with CN=Sub.EVIL.COM and no subject alternative name would bypasses an excludedSubtrees constraint for evil.com because the comparison is case-sensitive. This issue has been patched in version 3.11.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-32883 | 2 Botan Project, Randombit | 2 Botan, Botan | 2026-04-14 | 5.9 Medium |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. From version 3.0.0 to before version 3.11.0, during X509 path validation, OCSP responses were checked for an appropriate status code, but critically omitted verifying the signature of the OCSP response itself. This issue has been patched in version 3.11.0. | ||||
| CVE-2026-32877 | 2 Botan Project, Randombit | 2 Botan, Botan | 2026-04-14 | 8.2 High |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. From version 2.3.0 to before version 3.11.0, during SM2 decryption, the code that checked the authentication code value (C3) failed to check that the encoded value was of the expected length prior to comparison. An invalid ciphertext can cause a heap over-read of up to 31 bytes, resulting in a crash or potentially other undefined behavior. This issue has been patched in version 3.11.0. | ||||
| CVE-2024-39312 | 2 Botan Project, Randombit | 2 Botan, Botan | 2025-04-11 | 5.3 Medium |
| Botan is a C++ cryptography library. X.509 certificates can identify elliptic curves using either an object identifier or using explicit encoding of the parameters. A bug in the parsing of name constraint extensions in X.509 certificates meant that if the extension included both permitted subtrees and excluded subtrees, only the permitted subtree would be checked. If a certificate included a name which was permitted by the permitted subtree but also excluded by excluded subtree, it would be accepted. Fixed in versions 3.5.0 and 2.19.5. | ||||
