CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
media: mediatek: vcodec: Only free buffer VA that is not NULL
In the MediaTek vcodec driver, while mtk_vcodec_mem_free() is mostly
called only when the buffer to free exists, there are some instances
that didn't do the check and triggered warnings in practice.
We believe those checks were forgotten unintentionally. Add the checks
back to fix the warnings. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
cxl/port: Fix delete_endpoint() vs parent unregistration race
The CXL subsystem, at cxl_mem ->probe() time, establishes a lineage of
ports (struct cxl_port objects) between an endpoint and the root of a
CXL topology. Each port including the endpoint port is attached to the
cxl_port driver.
Given that setup, it follows that when either any port in that lineage
goes through a cxl_port ->remove() event, or the memdev goes through a
cxl_mem ->remove() event. The hierarchy below the removed port, or the
entire hierarchy if the memdev is removed needs to come down.
The delete_endpoint() callback is careful to check whether it is being
called to tear down the hierarchy, or if it is only being called to
teardown the memdev because an ancestor port is going through
->remove().
That care needs to take the device_lock() of the endpoint's parent.
Which requires 2 bugs to be fixed:
1/ A reference on the parent is needed to prevent use-after-free
scenarios like this signature:

This is a race between open_cached_dir() and cached_dir_lease_break()
where the cache entry for the open directory handle receives a lease
break while creating it. And before returning from open_cached_dir(),
we put the last reference of the new @cfid because of
!@cfid->has_lease.
Besides the UAF, while running xfstests a lot of missed lease breaks
have been noticed in tests that run several concurrent statfs(2) calls
on those cached fids
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test No task to wake, unknown frame...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test Cmd: 18 Err: 0x0 Flags: 0x1...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test smb buf 00000000715bfe83 len 108
CIFS: VFS: Dump pending requests:
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test No task to wake, unknown frame...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test Cmd: 18 Err: 0x0 Flags: 0x1...
CIFS: VFS: \\w22-root1.gandalf.test smb buf 000000005aa7316e len 108
...
To fix both, in open_cached_dir() ensure that @cfid->has_lease is set
right before sending out compounded request so that any potential
lease break will be get processed by demultiplex thread while we're
still caching @cfid. And, if open failed for some reason, re-check
@cfid->has_lease to decide whether or not put lease reference. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
reiserfs: Avoid touching renamed directory if parent does not change
The VFS will not be locking moved directory if its parent does not
change. Change reiserfs rename code to avoid touching renamed directory
if its parent does not change as without locking that can corrupt the
filesystem. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ocfs2: Avoid touching renamed directory if parent does not change

its parent does not change as without locking that can corrupt the
filesystem. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: nf_tables: avoid skb access on nf_stolen
When verdict is NF_STOLEN, the skb might have been freed.
When tracing is enabled, this can result in a use-after-free:
1. access to skb->nf_trace
2. access to skb->mark
3. computation of trace id
4. dump of packet payload
To avoid 1, keep a cached copy of skb->nf_trace in the
trace state struct.
Refresh this copy whenever verdict is != STOLEN.
Avoid 2 by skipping skb->mark access if verdict is STOLEN.
3 is avoided by precomputing the trace id.
Only dump the packet when verdict is not "STOLEN". |
| SQLite before 3.54.0 built with FTS3/FTS4 and SQLITE_ENABLE_FTS3_PARENTHESIS contains a use-after-free vulnerability in fts3BestSnippet() caused by dangling cached position-list pointers. Attackers can run a full-text MATCH query combining OR and NEAR operators with snippet() to read freed heap memory and crash the process. |
| Cpanel::JSON::XS versions before 4.80 for Perl use the parent interpreter's scalars from a parser object cloned into a new ithread.
A parser object holds its callbacks and its incremental parse buffer as raw scalar pointers. When a thread is created, these are copied into the new interpreter unchanged, so the child's parser uses, and later frees, scalars that belong to the parent and may already have been freed there.
A parser created before a thread starts and used inside it can call freed callbacks, corrupt reference counts and crash the process. |
| A flaw was found in OpenSSH. A malicious SSH server can exploit a double free vulnerability in the Diffie-Hellman Group Exchange (DH-GEX) client path. This occurs during FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) mode known-group validation when the client processes attacker-controlled DH-GEX group parameters. Successful exploitation leads to client-side process termination, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). |
| Memory Corruption via Uncanceled AIO Requests on Error: libkcapi's one-shot AIO path can return an error before all submitted IOCBs are drained, allowing later kernel writes into caller-owned output buffers. |
| Software installed and run as a non-privileged user may conduct improper GPU system calls to cause race condition in hardware performance counters buffer’s destruction path leading to read and/or write UAF.
The race condition in the destruction path could lead to reference counter being decremented in non-atomical way allowing other code paths using a freed object to read and/or write kernel heap memory. |
| Software installed and run as a non-privileged user may conduct improper GPU system calls to free memory in still in use, replace with another allocation and cause arbitrary memory reads or writes to physical memory pages.
A memory buffer managed by a CPU thread of control (driver) and accessed by a GPU thread of control (firmware) can be freed while in use. Software installed and run as a non-privileged user may replace that buffer with another and replace a shared resource (memory page address list) managed by the CPU thread of control (driver) leading to the GPU accessing memory not managed by the CPU thread of control (driver). |
| A flaw was found in librsvg. When processing an SVG document containing nested XML inclusions (Xincludes) with duplicate entity declarations, a use-after-free error can occur. This vulnerability arises because the library incorrectly frees an XML entity that is still in use by the parser. An attacker could potentially exploit this to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
KVM: s390: Fix IRQ injection with SIGP Stop and Store Status
When __inject_sigp_stop() is called for a Stop and Store Status
operation, if the vCPU is running, the interrupt is marked as pending
and the status is stored by the thread performing the KVM_RUN IOCTL.
If the vCPU is already stopped, the status is stored immediately.
Storing the status means writing into userspace, which might fault, and
__inject_sigp_stop() is called from do_inject_vcpu() which in turn is
always called holding a spinlock, which is obviously an issue.
Fix this by returning -EWOULDBLOCK from __inject_sigp_stop(), and
adding a bool flag to indicate whether a store status is needed. The
callers of do_inject_vcpu() are modified to pass the pointer to the
bool flag; whenever a Store Status operation is needed, the callers can
now perform it outside the spinlock.
Opportunistically refactor kvm_s390_set_irq_state() to use
scoped_guard() and __free().

| Use after free in Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) allows an unauthorized attacker to elevate privileges over a network. |
| Insufficient resource pool in the ACME HTTP-01 challenge responder of Progressive Robot hMailServer 6.0.0 through 6.3.6 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause a certificate issuance or renewal to fail. When the server obtains or renews a TLS certificate over ACME it runs an HTTP-01 challenge responder on port 80 for the certificate authority to read the challenge token; the responder served one connection at a time, accepting a socket, waiting up to five seconds to receive a request, answering it, and only then accepting the next. A client that connected and sent nothing held the single worker for the whole timeout, so enough idle connections during a validation keep the certificate authority's own request from being answered in time and the validation fails. Sustained across a certificate's renewals this leads to the certificate expiring, after which clients refuse the server's TLS; the mail service itself continues on its current certificate until then. No authentication is required to connect to the responder. Version 6.3.7 serves up to 64 connections at once and closes a connection past that, so that where a handful of idle connections, one after another, sufficed before, a client must keep 64 idle connections open at once throughout a validation to have the certificate authority's connection closed. |
